... I peed on a stick, saw the BFP, did two more just for fun, and then drove four hours with J in the pre-dawn hours to another city to catch our direct flight to Vegas, grinning like a dork-knob the whole way. If I had known then how great it has turned out to be, I might have literally smiled my face off.
DJ is still doing great -- he turns four months old this week. He has laughed a couple times, which absolutely melts me.
He has a check-up on Thursday, which I'm eager to go to. DJ's noggin has become noticeably asymmetrical, and I'm wondering if he's having that thing where some skull plates fuse prematurely. If so, I think we're looking at endoscopic surgery to release the fuse and 6-12 months of wearing an orthotic helmet to reshape his skull.
If that happens, I'll need some great ideas for his first Halloween costume. Storm Trooper? Insect? Flower? Snowboarder? Put a wig on it and then dress him like Tom Jones?
I am sooo ready for P to laugh!!!!! It must be the sweetest sound ever. Instead, P is involved in some heavy teething, so is more likely to cry than to start laughing now! :(
ReplyDeleteI hope the skull situation isn't as bad as you fear. If so, you can always steal my halloween idea: oyster. (head = pearl) I am not sure I'll dress her as that this year, but I am keeping it in mind, perhaps for her second halloween. But if you use it now, let me know! It would be fun to dress our babies up the same, considering that they were born on the same day!
Oh and of course!! Congratulations on one year of knowing about your little "glow worm"!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats. I hope the head this is ok. Can you turn his head to the other way to lay down? I've been trying too alternate with Parker when I noticed she was favoring one side. Enjoy picking your halloween costume, you get about 3 till your kid picks his own. :)
ReplyDeleteI vote for storm trooper! I hope DJ's skull situation isn't too serious. Can you believe how much has happened in a year? Now you have this sweet little boy as a result? Amazing!
ReplyDeleteChamp's head is flat on one side....the ped says it's from him always sleeping on his right. But I constantly wonder if it's something else going on. Hoping DJ's situation is not serious, but you guys will tackle it and get it right.
ReplyDeleteCannot believe how much difference a year makes!!!!! CONGRATS on a huge and wonderful BFP anniversary!! xoxo
Oooh, storm trooper is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI do hope his situation is not as serious as you suspect. No matter what, though, it sounds like you're ready to deal with it and, hopefully, things will go just find for the little guy.
What a happy anniversary. And there are a bunch more coming.
ReplyDeleteYIKES. That skull fusing dealio sounds totally scary. I really hope it's something more benign. Because while of course you'd get through it, who wants to. I hope this time next year you're celebrating the anniversary of worrying about something that turned out to be nothing.
What a difference a year makes:) Glad you're here, and that there's laughter.
ReplyDeleteI read about that (premature skull fusing) when we first had Violet's referral (although that is not what she had)- hopefully all is normal and that is not happening! But if so, it's good you are discovering it early! I'm anxious to hear how the appt is going today!
ReplyDeleteYay for Baby laughs! They get better and better. One of our favorite things is tickling Maddie's belly and inner thighs to get these just amazingly contagious belly laughs that are so adorable! It starts small.....with that first little laugh....and gets better every time!
Brax has the asymmetrical noggin, too! His is clearly a result of his preference for sleeping with his head to the right during the first couple of months. I'm hoping we and you can avoid the helmet--it sounds like a pain. But I guess it would be worth it.
